This book explores the possibility to fit the essence of six Tarot cards to the constricted structure of the haiku poem. The result is a beautiful economy of thought and image.

Although the book was written as a companion to the limited edition Arcades Tarot, it can serve as inspiration and guiding tool for all interested in developing a language of visual synthesis. How do you render a world of Tarot symbolic representations and cultural functions in 17 syllables? By keeping an eye on what goes in and out of the arcades of perception.

Hardback book + Arcades Tarot deck. All the poems in this book function as a spell. They were based on a special tarot deck created in order to suggest entries and exists through magical arcades. The deck of cards was a labor of love featuring the old Carolus Zoya Marseille tarots, photographed in a mirror in an arcade. The first edition of cards was based on a ritual. Each card was sunk into a bath of black tea and magical herbs. When the cards dried they were ironed to the tunes of enchanted poems. Each card was sanded and boned, and then hand gilded. 22 sets together with an accompanying book of haikus written on the basis of 6 Arcades Tarot cards were consecrated on top of a mountain in Norway in 2019.
